Was it Okay for UEFA resuming the game and threatening Denmark with 3-0 forfeit?

Before we start, do you think it was pertinent for the players to go ahead on the pitch to finish the match after they saw their teammate went through a medical emergency and was hospitalised? Were they mentally prepared?

Striker Martin Braithwaite and former goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel criticized UEFA for resuming the Euro 2020 match of Denmark against Finland on Saturday that forced traumatized players to play in the situation after teammate Christian Eriksen’s collapse.

The match was suspended soon after Eriksen collapsed and was given CPR on the pitch before he got transferred to the hospital. Both the team players were under stress seeing the midfielder in a medical emergency.

The game later was restarted by UEFA when the player was awake and out of danger. While announcing the restarting of the game, UEFA stated through a statement “following the request made by players of both teams,” but Braithwaite and Schmeichel claim that players were not in the condition to play the match.

Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch during their Euro 2020 opener against Finland and was given CPR before he was transferred to the hospital for a medical emergency which distressed the whole Football community. The match was suspended until the player was in stable condition and out of the dangerous situation. Football fraternity from clubs to players to everyone sent well wishes and prayers to the player.

"All our strength and support Christian Eriksen", said the Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Football clubs kept Eriksen in their thoughts and prayers.

The world of football stood together and prayed for good news.

“We were given two choices from UEFA, to immediately go out and play the match or to play next day at noon. None of these choices was good. We took the lesser of two evils to finish the match. Many of the players were not in a condition to play this match. We were in different spaces.

It was not our wish. We had to choose among the two options and we were told to make a decision. Had we wished there was another option as third, to not go out and play football in that situation, but UEFA told us we had two options,” said the striker Braithwaite during a press conference on Monday.

The European governing body of Football was then not available for any comment when contacted by CNN.

Danish former goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel also claims that UEFA intimidated Denmark with a 3-0 forfeit defeat against Finland if the squad didn't go ahead on the pitch and finish the leftover game.

Later that night of adversity, the football world finally got news of relief about Eriksen. The player was safe and awake, he was finally able to breathe.

Something positive that encouraged all the distressed community!

Eriksen's Inter Milan teammate Romelu Lukaku dedicated his Belgium's opening goal of the tournament to the player straight to the camera after scoring. "Cris I Love You"!

Achraf Hakimi dedicated his goal as well, to the player in his concern and support.

Meanwhile, Denmark was defeated by Finland 1-0 that night after the game was resumed but the Finnish striker Joel Pohjanpalo did not celebrate his goal in the player's concern.

Christian Eriksen is awake and fine, he suffered cardiac arrest despite having no history of heart concern. The player is currently in the hospital for a further medical checkup and is recovering.

Hoping and wish for him to recover soon and come back on the pitch. The world is with you.
